abby La La is a friend of the Easter Bunny, an admirer of poodles,
organic food, knitting, and cookies. With her cartoon voice she sings
about Butter and Eggs, Elves, Golden Fleas, and Pirates. Now, with
the release of her highly anticipated second album, I Know You Know I
Know, La La presents a collection of songs which are reminiscent of
school days: make believe worlds, gossip, rainbows of imagination, and
passing notes in class.
La La takes us through fairy-tailed and surreal worlds in which
everyday worries dissolve with the appreciation of tiny and small
things.
Her music is a mixture of freak-folk, hindu-pop, cabaret, and
traditional North Indian Classical music; La La cannot be defined by
any one genre and perhaps that is exactly what makes her so compelling
to such a wide and varied audience. She has made waves not only in
the night clubs and festivals, but also in the classroom and for
families wherever she goes. As Gabby continues to make breakthroughs
in cross cultural and generational music, look out for multi-media
projects featuring her music and visual concepts.
Listen, and explore the sound of Gabby La La. Let yourself enjoy,
even for a moment, her world of imagination and unrestrained child joy.
La La has performed and recorded with Les Claypool, Bob Weir, Snoop
Dogg, Macy Gray, The Sippy Cups, Bernie Worrell, P-Funk, and Prince
Paul. Her first album of original music,
Be Careful What You Wish
For..., was released in 2005 on Les Claypool's Prawn Song Records.
Her second album,
I Know You Know I Know, was created entirely by
Gabby La La in her bedroom in Petaluma, CA using a Nintendo DS Lite,
sitar, ukulele, theremin, and her lovely voice!
